About Us
Home of Massage Education is 20 years in the making.
We wanted to take massage education to the next level. Home of Massage Education has been working every aspect of massage therapy, from owning an award-winning business to working on legislation to teaching continuing education nationally and everything in between. We host city wide events, have been published in the media statewide and nationally, as well as appearing on local TV stations and in publications. We moderate massage groups, attend meetups, have taken extensive business courses and travel nationally for educational connections. We believe massage therapists deserve to be hirable when they leave school, not just pass an exam. Opening a massage school was the goal 20 years ago.
And now, it has finally arrived.
Why go anywhere that is not as invested as we are?
Owned and operated by all massage therapists and bodyworkers, which we think is essential to the development of a great massage school.
And that's not all.
Education is needed on many levels, whether it's a CPR/First Aid Certification, Continuing Education for Massage, Doulas, + Esthetics, Community Classes like Yoga or Sound Baths...we need a safe, communal space to continue to expand our skillsets across a variety of fields.
We are a school for the healers of the world, who are taking care of all of us, physically and mentally.
Jessica York, Founder, Instructor
Jessica has been a massage therapist for 20 years, as a graduate of National Institute of Technology. She is dual licensed in cosmetology and holds NCBTMB accreditation as both a board-certified member and a continuing education provider. She is currently the vice chair for the Michigan State Board of Massage Therapy and an admin for the Badass Bodyworkers Nationwide group. She has taught nationally and appeared in various podcasts, magazines, and television interviews across the country. Currently, she owns Breathe: Bodywork and Beautification, an award-winning vegan spa in Ferndale and co-founded the Annual Ferndale Wellness Fair. She looks forward to the next chapter of her journey with her bodywork career.
